Sustainable Home Goods with Lüks
Our family has been on a sustainable and ethical fashion journey for nearly 1 year now and it has been life-changing. Once we became conscious of the hell that happens behind the scenes of the fast-fashion world, we decided that enough was enough and it was time to fight back.
Every time you spend money, you’re casting a vote for the kind of world you want.
// Anne Lappe //
We have fought with every single penny of our paycheck. I have fought back with every sustainable and ethical collaboration. We have fought back with every second-hand item that has graced our home and with every mindful word spoken to those around us to end this vicious cycle.
Here at WonderMamas, we have spoken a lot about fashion but not so much about HomeGoods and I wanted to take a moment today to give praise to one of our favorite home good shops: Lüks. With just two simple peshtemal’s, our thoughts on HomeGoods have changed tremendously. Who knew that there was a way to use one item as a towel, blanket, sarong, wrap, scarf and more? I have never been more in love with a single home goods piece in my life. I am giddy with excitement to share!

Today, I am honored to share with our community a fabulous brand that not only makes the World a better place but also makes life at home so much easier: Sustainable Home Goods with Lüks
Sustainable Home Goods with Lüks
Lüks was founded 4 years ago by the ever kind and amazing Rachel Ward. It was Rachel herself who recommended the two peshtemal’s that we use to cover our children every single night as they sleep. These are also the same peshtemals that we use to wrap them after swims in the lake, the same ones we use to wrap around our necks when the weather chills and the same ones that we use to give us some sun shade over our camper van door. We use them for everything. Thank you so much Rachel, we could not have asked for more.
The Cotton
Rachel is extremely transparent in her companies work and I loved this about her first and foremost. Lüks is OEKO TEX Standard 100 certified on all of their products and strives next to become a fully organic brand by the end of 2019.
“It is not always an easy process as the ongoing annual costs for GOTS certification for some of our smaller ateliers is prohibitive, however we are already working with two ateliers, who actively promote the use of GOTS accredited cotton and are working on how we can support our family weavers without whom the brand would simply not exist.”
This is HUGE news and it is amazing that they offer this information up so freely; directly on their website. This is called transparency of where they are now and where they strive to be. Thank you for being honest with us.
All of the cotton used in production comes from Turkey; Denizli in the South West and Hatay in the South. Lüks partners with local family run ateliers who use locally grown cotton which is spun, dyed and woven in the area in which it was cultivated, cutting down on transportation and the carbon footprint.

20 Year Guarantee
This blew my mind. Lüks is so dedicated to sustainability that they offer a 20-year guarantee on all of their items. They will either mend the product for you or send you a new piece.
“When looked after and cared for with the love they deserve, our products can last for years. Firm in this belief, we proudly offer a 20 year guarantee and will happily repair or replace any peshtemal and blanket that doesn’t live up to our stringent quality standards – now when was the last time you saw that kind of belief in craftsmanship being displayed in your high street stores?”
Never. Not once. I have never had that kind of guarantee from any home goods store. I cannot tell you how good it feels to have found this company!
Fair Trade Practices: Meet the Makers
Something really amazing that Lüks offers its customers is a chance to meet the makers of their HomeGoods.
I learned all about the Büyükasiks who are master weavers from Hatay in Southern Turkey, Irem & Tolga who left the hustle and bustle of Istanbul to find a slower way of life after the birth of their child (sounds familiar!), Ümut & Mustafa who are deemed the “peshtemal heroes” and made our very own Tulin peshtemals (thank you so much!), Gaffar who crafted the stunning lale blankets, and Barine who is the newest member and brings some modern and eclectic appeal to the brand.
You can click here to learn all about these amazing men and women; their love of their work shows through each and every piece.

We are so honored to have the Tulin Peshtemal’s grace our home. I am so thankful to have come across this brand through deep research into sustainable home living and, of course, so excited to share them with our community today.
**Lüks was kind enough to gift me the two Tulin peshtemals to promote sustainable home goods with our community and beyond. Of course, the blog post was all written by me and without any bias. I truly do love these peshtemals and you will see me and my sons snuggling and loving these for years and years to come. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and please reach out if you need any help on your sustainable and ethical journey!
p.s. You can check out the peshtemals in action during our camping trip here!

I love this so much! Every purchase we make supports whatever way the company produces their product. It’s important to choose who we buy from carefully.

I have to be honest that we are not yet 100% users of sustainable clothing product but we are slowly getting there. Thanks for Sharing about Luks clothing/linen, its great to learn about what they offer
They really do look soft and something to be used and enjoyed for a long time to come. Plus what is better than an excuse to snuggle with the littles?
I always look for a brand whenever I buy clothes but sometimes how and what it was made of is more important.
Lately I’ve been more mindful of what I buy and from whom. This sounds like a wonderful brand…it’s so important to shop ethically!
I love when a brand does something that effect the world in a positive way. I am becoming more of an eco conscious person it is so important.
